Manufacturer of Raw Lab Grown Diamonds & Loose Lab Diamonds

Better Star manufactures HPHT & CVD rough lab grown diamond & loose lab diamonds. Our monthly capacity reaches around 600,000 carats of raw lab diamonds and 300,000 carats of loose lab diamonds.

Lab grown diamonds are manufactured via 2 methods: HPHT and CVD

  • The HPHT process replicates the extreme natural conditions deep underground where natural diamonds form. Using graphite as the carbon source together with metallic catalysts, carbon atoms recrystallize inside equipment to rapidly grow diamonds. Lab grown diamonds deliver comparable quality with much shorter production time, higher output and prominent cost advantages.

  • For CVD production, carbon-containing gas is pumped into a vacuum chamber. Under energy stimulation, carbon atoms deposit layer by layer onto diamond seed crystals for continuous growth. CVD technology offers superior growth control and is ideal for producing larger-size diamonds.

High-value large rough diamonds usually undergo CT scanning. Experts then evaluate each crystal to work out the optimal cutting plan for shapes including round, heart, radiant, oval, etc. After cutting, diamonds go through grinding, polishing and cleaning. Finally, diamonds receive official 4C grading certificates from independent labs such as IGI or GIA, becoming certified lab grown loose diamonds.

FAQ Raw & Loose

How to choose loose diamond for a custom engagement ring?

①Pick your diamond shape first, popular choices: marquise, radiant, oval, etc. Every shape brings a distinct engagement ring look. Better Star offers custom cutting for any shape you want. ②Our jewelry experts will recommend proper 4C grades according to your needs & cost. ③We suggest IGI or GIA certified stones for large carat loose diamonds for better assurance.

China supplies about 63% of global lab grown diamonds. Chinese HPHT diamonds account for over 90% of worldwide HPHT production. Better Star is the top Chinese lab diamond manufacturer & supplier with stable quality & good prices. For large carat diamonds, choose IGI or GIA certified stones. Use a 10x loupe to verify the girdle laser code against the certificate.

HPHT & CVD Lab grown diamonds match natural diamonds in all physical, chemical and optical traits. Hardness, heat conductivity and refractive index are exactly the same. HPHT and CVD diamonds with the same 4C specs look almost identical. But manufacturing sets them apart. HPHT diamonds are generally more cost-effective for sizes below 3 carats. For 3 carats and larger, especially high-clarity 10ct and 20ct stones, CVD works better.

Rough lab grown diamond holds plenty of impurities. Uncut and unpolished, it has little transparency and almost no shine — truly a diamond in the rough. Once impurities are removed, precisely faceted and polished, the stone turns clear and brilliantly sparkles.

HPHT rough diamonds often forms cubic or octahedral crystals with sharp edges , frequently with metallic catalyst inclusions and yellow/brown color. CVD rough diamonds generally grows as flat tabular plates, slab-like shape, fewer metal impurities, easier to achieve colorless types.

Loose lab grown diamonds undergo professional cutting and polishing with fixed 4C specifications. They come in diverse shapes, colors and clarities, possessing great transparency and sparkle for immediate jewellery setting.

The quality of rough lab grown diamond has a huge impact on polished loose diamonds. Natural flaws, color tone and crystal shape are fixed within rough stones. Cutting and polishing cannot eliminate inherent defects. Premium rough stone is the foundation of high grade polished diamonds.
